Cā;
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I pontificate much too frequently
and am condescending in several places--most of these difficulties
stem from the origins as lecture notes. I've been trying to clean the
manuscript since 1970, but every time I teach it, the contents
completely revise. I'm currently teaching it to 45 students at San
Jose, and have already restructured the first 80+ pages. Until the
content reaches something like steady-state, I hate to spend too much
time with the style.
I'm not sure what you mean about slick examples; I hope it wasn't
referring to abstract data structuring.
As to publishing it; YES! it's got to get published soon.
American-Ele. is looking at it now as a member of the A-I series. I
don't feel its an A-I book, but at this point (4+ years of working on
it when I get "free" time) I don't care too much who publishes it. It
's certainly not finished yet and enlarging the chapter on storage
and efficiency, and adding more in the last chapter about A-I
languages is easy, but will take time.
My understanding is that A-E is a branch of North-Holland. Were you
referring to a different North-Holland limb?
As soon as I revise the first parts, I send them along.
